As we enter into our eighth year learning and working our Fiber Farm, at times fumbling along the way and learning from our mistakes, I am heartened over the numerous requests I receive for Internships/Job Shadowing from many young adults and almost as common, retirees looking for an active and fulfilling hobby.

Many of us have been squirreling away money into our pensions for years, however we also know that the economy we once knew, has drastically changed and having a little ‘spare change’ never hurts anyones pocketbook.

Since the writing of The Savvy Retiree article (July 2020)- Earn an Income by Turning Your Passion Into an Experience, we have made few changes at Clover Brooke Farm, all moving our little farm onto financially stability for the years to come.

COVID 19 continues to be that unwanted guest who never knocks and always shows up without an invitation.

After 4 months of listening to the news and wondering when this unwanted quest will get the hint and leave, I worry that door has slammed shut, as parts of the North East still try to navigate pocketed outbreaks, having never eradicated the virus for the Summer, as previously hoped. In addition, our neighboring states in the South, are bearing the worst of the pandemic this Summer with the assumption it will creep North sooner than planned.

Today we were interview by Bronxet Media wanting to know what we thought about Llamas and will they save the world from COVID 19. Hard answer, as I’m a little biased currently owning 12 Llamas and 7 Alpacas (distant cousin) and know that Llamas have been at the forefront of research for a few decades now. Llamas do make an ideal research animal, as they are large, creating loads of serum and more handleable than the typical nasty laboratory hamster.

Llamas make small antibodies that might serve as the basis for potential therapeutics. Researchers are hoping that antibody therapy could potentially be used as a treatment for people already infected or at the risk of becoming infected.

Stay tuned for further research and outcomes associated with Llama Antibody research and in the meantime - Llamas will always be the Super Hero of Clover Brooke Farm!
